Job summary

ColonialWebb is seeking Plumbing/Pipefitter Mechanics to assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures for heating, water, and drainage systems in Richmond, VA. The role involves teaching apprentices and guiding helpers to work safely and deliver quality.

The position offers a day shift (6:00 AM–2:30 PM, M-F) in a fabrication shop environment with competitive wages. Pay ranges from $26 to $30 per hour, with strong growth opportunities within a large MEP contractor.

Qualifications

• Work experience as a Pipefitter on commercial construction projects (Journeyman level preferred).
• Experience reading and working from drawings.
• Ability to direct the work of a helper or apprentice.
• Knowledge of pipefitter equipment, power tools, and fabrication methods.
• Knowledge of different types of pipes, valves, fittings, and their functions.
• Knowledge of basic construction/shop math.

Responsibilities

• Study building plans and drawings to determine work aids and sequence of installations.
• Locate and mark pipe positions and passage holes for walls and floors.
• Cut and thread pipe using pipe cutters and threading equipment.
• Assemble and install valves, fittings, and pipes from metals and plastics.
• Join pipes using screws, fittings, solder, brazing, or welding.
• Work safely and comply with health and safety rules.
