Job summary

Wing in Durham, NC is seeking a Pilot-in-Command Manager to lead a team of sUAS PICs in a Part 135 drone delivery network, reporting to the Assistant Chief Pilot, onsite duties, and ensuring safety, readiness, and performance.

The role requires at least one year of leadership experience with small teams, a PIC background, and FAA certifications; competitive base salary in the $116k–$123k range plus bonus, equity, and benefits; full-time position with travel for initial training.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of people management in aviation, safety-critical ops.
• At least 1 year leading small teams as Pilot-in-Command in Part 135 drone operations.
• Must hold FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot certificate (and recurrent certificate if applicable).
• Valid FAA First/Second/Third Class Medical Certificate within 36 months.
• Strong written and spoken English communication.

Responsibilities

• Maintain FAA qualifications and operate as Part 135 PIC for Wing's autonomous drone network.
• Direct and mentor a crew of 7–9 PICs, fostering safety and operational excellence.
• Coach and advance team skills and career progression through training and evaluations.
• Collaborate with Chief Pilot and Assistant Chief Pilot to ensure readiness of PIC Stations and aviation infrastructure.
• Oversee onboarding and training for new hires in compliance with standards.
• Provide technical expertise to support public relations, community engagement, and regulatory outreach.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment handling sensitive information.
