Job summary

IonQ in Boston, MA is seeking a Lead Integrated Photonic Simulation & Layout Engineer to guide the layout of advanced photonic devices and circuits. You will drive PDK development with commercial foundries and shape quantum photonic platforms, including diamond photonics, thin-film lithium niobate, and ion trap photonics.

Qualifications

PhD in electrical engineering, physics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience designing devices in diamond photonics, thin-film lithium niobate, or ion trap photonics.
Proficiency with photonic simulation tools (Lumerical, Tidy3D, COMSOL).
Hands-on experience generating layout for integrated photonic circuits, including full-reticle tapeouts.
Deep expertise with Python-based photonic layout tools and PDK development workflows.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Lead component design and layout for PDK development with photonic foundries.
Support design for quantum photonic technologies including diamond photonics and LN and ion trap photonics.
Own full-reticle tapeouts from floorplanning through GDS, including DRC and LVS.
Collaborate with fabrication and test teams to validate PDK components.
