Job summary
IonQ, Inc. in Boston, MA is seeking a Lead Integrated Photonic Simulation & Layout Engineer to drive layout of photonic devices and PDK development with foundries, shaping quantum photonic platforms including diamond photonics and thin-film lithium niobate.
You will own full-reticle tapeouts from floorplanning to GDS, collaborate across design, fabrication, and test teams, and push performance with Python-based tools and modern layout workflows.
Qualifications
- PhD in electrical engineering, physics, or related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience designing devices in diamond photonics, thin-film lithium niobate, or ion trap photonics.
- Proficiency with photonic simulation tools (Lumerical, Tidy3D, COMSOL).
- Extensive hands-on experience generating layout for integrated photonic circuits.
- Deep expertise with Python-based photonic layout tools and PDK workflows.
Responsibilities
- Lead component design and layout for PDK development with commercial photonic foundries.
- Support design and layout for diamond photonics, thin-film lithium niobate, and ion trap photonics.
- Own full-reticle tapeouts from floorplanning through GDS generation, including DRC/LVS.
- Collaborate with fabrication and test teams to validate PDK components against performance.
