Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Lead Phlebotomy Technician for Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights. The role supports Inpatient Phlebotomy, Outpatient Lab, and Specimen Processing with a 4:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. schedule and on-call requirements, plus weekends/holidays as needed.

The ideal candidate will draw blood, transport specimens, interpret orders, train staff, and ensure safety and quality in a fast-paced laboratory setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required with two years in a clinical lab.
• Leadership and training experience preferred.
• Proficiency in infant and pediatric phlebotomy.

Responsibilities

• Draw blood from patients using venipuncture or capillary techniques.
• Transport specimens and interpret physician orders for collection.
• Instruct patients on proper collection methods and ensure accuracy.
• Process specimens and enter results for testing.
• Deliver samples to the Laboratory Accession Area for processing.
• Maintain safety and respond to patient distress as needed.
• Coordinate orientation and training schedules for staff.
• Assist in supervision when Supervisor/Team Leader is unavailable.
