Job summary

Kaiser Permanente seeks a Phlebotomist to support the laboratory function by collecting and processing specimens, ensuring proper labeling and accurate data entry, and delivering excellent member care.

Responsibilities include following Work Instructions, assisting with procedures, mentoring staff, and coordinating with lab teams. Requirements include an accredited phlebotomy program or at least 18 months of experience, a high school diploma, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform order entry, specimen collection and processing according to WI; obtain pertinent patient information and accurately identify patients.
• Prioritize workload and coordinate activities of the Phlebotomy and Laboratory Service/Technical Assistant workgroups.
• Provide instructions to physicians, nursing staff and patients in proper specimen collection and handling.
• Use laboratory computer system to obtain patient demographics, enter information, generate labels and track specimens.
• Assist with bone marrow collection and processing as needed.
• Maintain current knowledge of procedures and participate in staff meetings and quality control.
