Job summary

Amazon Leo is seeking a Sr. Phased Array RF Front End Architect to own the phased array RF front-end for the Direct-to-Device and Broadband satellite payloads, in San Diego.

You will work cross-functionally with D2D, Broadband, DSP, and silicon teams to define requirements and ensure performance under space constraints. This hands-on role requires deep expertise in cellular-band and Ka-band RF front-end design, with responsibilities spanning measurement, verification, thermal, and radiation

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in EE/CE or equivalent.
• 7+ years of RF front-end or phased array architecture experience.
• Experience with RF measurement equipment such as power meters, spectrum analyzers, VSGs, VNAs, and oscilloscopes.

Responsibilities

• Own the phased array RF front-end architecture across D2D and Broadband payloads, from antenna element to digital interface.
• Ensure RF front-end performance across all beam steering angles, including scan loss, impedance variation, and element-level amplitude/phase consistency.
• Define T/R module architecture balancing performance, integration, and semiconductor process trade-offs.
• Coordinate with D2D/Broadband architects to ensure RF front-end consistency with full signal-chain requirements.
• Co-optimize front-end with digital beamforming, including PA linearity and DPD/CFR integration.
• Drive semiconductor process selection trade studies balancing RF performance, cost, and radiation tolerance.
• Define radiation-tolerance requirements for front-end components and qualify parts with silicon teams.
• Flow down front-end requirements from system to component level and validate through test.
• Contribute to thermal and power architecture for RF front-end within space constraints.
• Evaluate emerging semiconductor technologies for future roadmap.
