Job summary

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital seeks a Lead Pharmacy Technician to lead sterile compounding services and support pharmaceutical care across the health system. Weekend/holiday hours may be required to meet operation needs. A sign-on bonus is available and benefits are excellent.

The role emphasizes leadership, training, policy development, and ensuring compliance with state/federal regulations and Joint Commission standards to optimize patient care and workflow.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
• PA State Board of Pharmacy Registration required for all PA locations
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
• Act 34 clearance may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead departmental quality improvement activities to improve pharmaceutical care.
• Train other Pharmacy Technicians in designated areas such as sterile compounding and operating room.
• Develop workflow guidelines, policies and procedures to maximize productivity and regulatory readiness.
• Oversee day-to-day activities in sterile compounding areas (NICU, OR, Hazardous meds).
• Maintain accurate documentation and records, including controlled substances.
