Job summary

Dartmouth Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to perform routine and specialized technical and clerical duties for drug distribution to patients, under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. The role supports inpatient, infusion, and outpatient operations and offers rotating shifts in a full-time 40-hour workweek.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree in a health-related field with pharmacy experience and demonstrates accuracy, multitasking, and composure under pressure.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in health or related field with 1 year of pharmacy experience or equivalent.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with accuracy.
• Ability to multitask and pay attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain composure under stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Answers Phones.
• Prepares prescription and non-prescription medication and/or devices.
• Stocks and replenishes stock locations and automated dispensing machines and/or robots.
• Serves as a preceptor and assists with orienting and training of pharmacy department staff. Provides CII oversight.
• Communicates supply issues, problems or discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
• Assists with workflow management
• Inpatient and Infusion Only: Prepares intravenous admixtures or other sterile drug products (including antineoplastic, investigational and hazardous medications) in accordance with USP chapters and under supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
• Prepares or compounds non-sterile drug products (including antineoplastic, investigational and hazardous medications) in accordance with USP chapters and under supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
• Utilizes closed system transfer devices to limit potential exposure of the environment to hazardous medications.
• Follows investigational protocols in the preparation of study medications, maintains records of preparation, stability, and dispenses as required.
• Maintains the hardware and software of the department's multiple computer systems.
• Outpatient Only: Electronically processes prescription orders and prepares prescriptions for verification by a pharmacist.
• Processes third party claims.
• Assists in the call center, with mail order, prior authorizations and deposits.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.
