Job summary

Hartford HealthCare’s Hospital of Central Connecticut is seeking a Lead Pharmacy Technician to support inpatient, outpatient, and specialty services. The role involves drug distribution, IV admixture, extemporaneous compounding, and supporting a pharmacist-led unit with computer systems and regulatory tasks.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital environment.
• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in business or health care field preferred.
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification is strongly preferred, required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform various functions on rotational basis in inpatient, outpatient, controlled substance and floor stock drug distribution, intravenous admixture preparation, and extemporaneous compounding.
• Assist pharmacist in all aspects of Pharmacy operations (including computer system) to meet the goals and objectives of the Pharmacy Department.
• Provides informal supervisory oversight of Pharmacy technicians in department to insure daily requirements are met.
• Assists Pharmacy Management team in technician scheduling and performance evaluation.
• Coordinates training of new technicians.
