Job summary

Hartford HealthCare’s Hospital of Central Connecticut is seeking a Lead Pharmacy Technician to support inpatient, outpatient, and specialty services. The role involves drug distribution, IV admixture, extemporaneous compounding, and supporting a pharmacist-led unit with computer systems and regulatory tasks.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital environment.
• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in business or health care field preferred.
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification is strongly preferred, required within 6 months of hire.

• Provides informal supervisory oversight of Pharmacy technicians in department to insure daily requirements are met.
• Assists Pharmacy Management team in technician scheduling and performance evaluation.
• Coordinates training of new technicians.

Assists pharmacist in all aspects of Pharmacy operations (including computer system) in order to meet the goals and objectives of the Pharmacy Department. All activities are performed under the supervision of a pharmacist. Provides informal supervisory oversight of Pharmacy technicians in department to insure daily requirements are met. Assists Pharmacy Management team in technician scheduling and performance evaluation. Assists leadership team with quality and regulatory tasks as assigned. Coordinates training of new technicians.

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree, in business or health care field preferred.

Minimum Experience

• 3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital environment.

Licenses/Certifications

• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification is strongly preferred, required within 6 months of hire.
• Pharmacy registration with Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection within 30 days of hire and by March 31st of each year.
