Clearview Cancer Institute's outpatient pharmacy seeks a Retail Pharmacy Technician Lead to support licensed pharmacists in preparing medications for oncology patients. You will count tablets, label bottles, and ensure accurate data entry, inventory control, and customer checkout in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, Alabama technician license, and PTCB certification preferred; 2+ years retail pharmacy experience is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Fill prescriptions for PO chemotherapy and supportive care medications.
  • Data entry and labeling of medications.
  • Packaging and checking out patients at point of sale.
  • Manage inventory and replenish floor stock and controlled substances.
  • Return and credit usable stock to inventory on discontinuation.
  • Assist in stocking shelves and cleaning equipment/areas.
  • Ensure outstanding claims are paid in a timely manner.
  • Answer phones and assist with copay/billing processes.
  • Assist pharmacy manager with training schedules and accreditation procedures.

Technicians usually perform routine tasks to help prepare prescribed medications for patients, such as counting tablets and labeling bottles.Duties include:Fill prescriptions for P.O. chemotherapy and supportive care medicationsData entryPackagingChecking outManage inventoryReplenish and deliver all floor stock orders, controlled substances, and medications.Return and credit usable stock to inventory upon discontinuation of an order.Assist co-workers in stocking medication shelves or other areas of the pharmacy with shipments received from vendors.Clean equipment and work areas as required.Ensure outstanding claims are paid in a timely manner.Answer phones.Data entry.Comply with all Alabama BOP laws and regulations.Run cash register, handle money, close cash register at end of business day.Manage 3 party reconciliation to ensure outstanding claims are paid in a timely manner.Manage copay assistance foundation billing.Manage BCBS Accept Assignment claims.Assist pharmacy manager with ACHC and URAC accreditation policies and procedures and compliance with these procedures.Primary audit coordinator.Assist pharmacy manager in training requirements and training schedule for pharmacy technicians.Assist pharmacy manager in work schedule for technicians.Ability to be at work regularly and on time.Other duties as assigned.Other Program Highlights:Must be able to work well as part of a team.Must have excellent interpersonal skills.Must have strong attention to detail and be able to multi-task.Education/ExperienceMust have a high school diploma or GEDAlabama Technician license required.PTCB certification preferred.At least (2) years retail pharmacy experience preferred.Working conditions:This position works in the retail pharmacy of a busy outpatient oncology/hematology clinic. This employee will have direct contact with patients, some of whom are very ill.Physical requirements:This position requires that the employee be able to stand and walk for up to eight hours a day.Direct reportsThis is not a supervisory position with direct reports.
