Summary

The incumbent will work as part of an interdisciplinary health care team, providing guidance and expertise to team members, monitoring progress, and ensuring compliance with Clinical Contact Center (CCC) rules and regulations. They will ensure pharmacy technicians are trained and proficient at servicing Veterans from all VA Medical Centers within the VISN catchment area.

Major Duties

• Collaborate with VISN programs, services, and interdisciplinary teams to provide access to care via contact modalities including telephone, secure messaging, chat, text, and video, handling topics like medication refills, billing inquiries, and pharmacy procedures.
• Review medication profiles for issues such as duplication, non-compliance, allergies, and drug interactions; escalate to Pharmacist or Supervisor as needed.
• Review patient medical records and medication profiles to identify polypharmacy or abnormal lab findings; report findings to Pharmacist.
• Process and submit prescription requests and renewals accurately and timely using VISN CCC software and EHR, documenting all actions and pertinent information.
• Assist Pharmacists with operational issues or therapy compliance information.
• Support workload completion during disasters, low staffing, or contingency needs.
• Perform duties of lower-grade technicians as required.
• Resolve simple problems and complaints regarding pharmacy services, technology, and systems; refer complex issues to supervisor.
• Maintain pharmacy resources and address workflow needs, alerting supervisors to necessary changes.
• Treat Veterans with respect, seeking first contact resolution and referring to other VA resources when appropriate.
• Maintain current Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or EXCPT).
• Assist in training and orienting new pharmacy technicians within the VISN.
• Report team and individual performance, progress, and training needs to supervisor.
• Monitor call volume and technician performance via ACD metrics to identify development needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: 7 days a week rotating 6am to 9pm (PST), including nights, holidays, and weekends.

Remote: Fully remote position.

Qualifications

Applicants must have U.S. Citizenship, pass drug screening, background/security investigations, and meet other specified requirements. Certification through PTCB or EXCPT is required. Education or experience requirements vary; see detailed standards in the original description.

Experience in leadership/team lead roles (2+ years) is preferred. Certification must be active and from recognized agencies.

Physical Requirements: Sedentary work with possible prolonged standing/walking.
