Job summary

Shields Health Care Group is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to operate PET equipment, perform hot lab tasks, and ensure patient safety and comfort during exams. The role requires ARRT/NMTCB registration, CPR, and at least one year of nuclear medicine experience.

You will document data in the Tech Data Entry system, prepare films, and coordinate with Radiologists after exams, while maintaining compliance with NRC and JCAHO standards.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a state license for the state(s) of employment.
  • Must be CPR certified.
  • Must be ARRT and/or NMTCB registered.
  • Minimum of one year nuclear medicine experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in starting IVs.
  • Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to assist patients with mobility.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.
  • Follow rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO.
  • Inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding.
  • Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of Radioactive Isotopes in specific body areas and body products.
  • Performs all hot lab responsibilities.
  • Ensure patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards.
  • Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort.
  • Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam.
  • Complete all forms pertaining to patient's exam.
  • Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program.
  • Provide and issue films when appropriate.
  • Forward PET related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam.
  • Refilm cases as time allows.
  • Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise.
  • Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be certified in CPR
  • Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB
  • A minimum of one-year prior nuclear medicine experience is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must be proficient in starting IVs.
  • Must be able to sit and utilize a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to assist patients with mobility difficulties.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds.
