Job summary

Gusto in Denver is seeking a Principal Product Manager for Payroll Platform to shape APIs and drive AI-enabled payroll solutions. You will own the vision and roadmap for the shared platform, collaborating with engineering, design, data and compliance to deliver scalable payroll APIs and workflows.

You’ll lead migrations, define actions and audit trails, and enable AI agents to simplify complex payroll tasks.

Qualifications

8+ years of direct Product Management experience.
Experience owning a platform, API or developer product and driving its adoption.
Technical fluency in APIs, data models and system design, with API migration credibility.
Strong platform judgment to define shared system scope and contracts.
Experience designing for trust in systems with auditability and automation.
Hands-on experience building with LLMs or agents and using AI to prototype and ship.

Responsibilities

Define the vision, strategy and roadmap for Payroll Platform and determine API contracts and boundaries.
Drive adoption by teams, partners and agents and connect metrics to customer outcomes.
Collaborate across engineering, design, data and compliance to deliver one product.
Build a unified payroll API and migrate existing users and systems onto it.
Define payroll actions, controls, audit trails and safe AI agent usage.
