Job summary

The Howard University is seeking a Lead Payroll Analyst to ensure accurate, compliant payroll for faculty, staff, and student workers on bi-weekly and off-cycle cycles. You will partner with HR, Budget, Benefits, Accounting, and departmental admins to verify data and support timely payroll operations.

You will handle payroll inquiries with a customer-service mindset, uphold internal controls, and contribute to audit readiness across the university. Experience with Workday and ADP is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with payroll processing and monthly reconciliations.
• Proficiency with Workday and ADP systems.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and validate payroll inputs and support files for each cycle.
• Perform pre-payroll audits to identify missing data or tax issues.
• Support monthly payroll processing by running calculations and resolving errors.
• Process routine off-cycle items such as corrections and retro payments.
• Respond to payroll inquiries with a strong customer service focus.
• Maintain payroll reconciliations and assist with annual reporting.
