Job summary

Knife River Corporation in Beaverton, OR is seeking a Paving Crew Screed Operator to oversee the paving crew and related activities on asphalt paving projects, including traffic control, subcontractor work, paving operations and trucking.

You will supervise daily operations, ensure quality, communicate with the superintendent and inspectors, conduct weekly safety meetings (JHAs), and maintain foreman reports, while upholding safety and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years of related construction experience with an emphasis on asphalt paving, streets, highways, and commercial projects.
• Must have skills in operating all types of paving equipment.
• Must have a positive attitude and proven track record of working well with others.
• Must be able to multi-task.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Experience supervising others.
• Must have a strong commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction and safety.

Responsibilities

• Oversee paving crew and other activities on the paving project.
• Activities include traffic control, subcontractor work, paving operations and trucking.
• Communicate effectively with superintendent, inspectors, and contractors.
• Assure quality of work in all aspects of asphalt paving.
• Order and manage daily trucking operations.
• Hold weekly safety meetings, complete and review JHAs.
• Complete daily foreman’s reports and diaries.
• Assure safety of all crew members and operations.
• Other miscellaneous duties as directed by supervisor.
