Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Team Member to perform front-line duties in specimen collection and processing, including registration, verification, and transport preparation. The role also involves performing EKGs at Staff Service Centers and supporting staff with equipment and software training.

Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED and an Associate degree is preferred. One year of specimen collection experience is required, with certification deadlines and strong computer skills

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 Year/Associate Degree preferred.
• One year relevant specimen collection & processing experience required.
• PBT or MLA certification required.
• Certification within 12 months of hire is required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills; ability to interact with billing team.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-analytical collection and processing of laboratory specimens.
• Register and verify patient demographics and financial information; verify lab orders.
• Validate and process specimens for transport to testing laboratory.
• Perform EKGs as appropriate in NH Laboratory Patient Service Centers.
• Cross-train at multiple access points and assist in orientation of staff.
• Assist in evaluation of new or modified techniques; train personnel on equipment and software.
