Job summary

HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital is seeking a Lead Patient Care Tech for the 5th Floor MedSurg Transition of Care Unit. This night-shift role (7pm–7am) supports the nursing team, delivers hands-on patient care, assists with procedures, and mentors newer staff.

You will perform ADL assistance, monitor telemetry, document care, maintain a safe environment, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. SC CNA license preferred, BLS required, and experience is valued.

Qualifications

• SC CNA license preferred or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• AHA/Red Cross BLS Health Care Provider required or obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• 1 year of acute/hospital experience preferred
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with ADLs and mobility, monitor vital signs, collect specimens, prepare for procedures, and monitor telemetry as needed.
• Document patient care accurately and communicate updates to the nursing team for coordinated care.
• Help maintain a safe, clean environment by infection prevention practices, equipment setup, and ensuring supplies are stocked.
• Respond to patient needs with regular rounds and compassionate communication to promote comfort and trust.
• Train new team members and share policy updates and quality improvement initiatives.

This position is for the Night shift which is 7pm to 7am with rotating weekends.

Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Lead Patient Care Tech, you’ll be an integral part of the nursing team, delivering compassionate care that impacts patients’ lives every day. You’ll provide hands-on patient care, assist with advanced procedures, and help guide and mentor and support the growth of new and experienced patient care tech staff.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting patients with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), supporting mobility and comfort, checking vital signs, collecting specimens, preparing for procedures, and monitoring telemetry as needed
• Documenting patient care accurately and communicating important updates to the nursing team to ensure coordinated, timely care
• Helping maintain a safe, clean environment by following infection prevention practices, setting up and caring for equipment, and ensuring needed supplies are ready
• Responding to patient needs through regular rounding and compassionate communication to promote comfort and trust
• Training new team members, sharing updates on policies and quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient care

What qualifications you will need:

• Licensed as a CNA in South Carolina preferred or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• RN Nursing School Students may be considered.
• A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• 1 year of acute/hospital experience is preferred
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
