Job summary

University Health is seeking a Pathologist Assistant to join our Anatomic Pathology team. You will lead daily operations in the grossing room, histology lab, and autopsy services, ensuring high standards in patient care, training, and lab excellence.

Under supervision of Board-Certified Pathologists, you will supervise and train staff, maintain safety and regulatory compliance, and contribute to hiring decisions.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree and Pathologist Assistant certification required.
• Knowledge of Texas Administrative Code of Criminal Procedure related to grossing and autopsy processes.
• Experience in a diagnostic lab setting preferred.
• Bonus: managerial or supervisory experience and familiarity with clinical information systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform gross examination and descriptions of surgical pathology specimens.
• Provide technical and operational oversight for the Gross Room, Histology Lab, and Autopsy Service.
• Supervise and train Pathologist Assistants, grossing assistants, and residents on safe and proper lab procedures.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, equipment maintenance, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in hiring decisions and assist in maintaining a high-performing team.
