PastryCook- Lead

BKLYN Larder is a celebration of good food and community. For over 15 years, we’ve proudly served Brooklyn with a thoughtfully curated selection of hand-crafted cheeses, house-made sandwiches and prepared foods, specialty grocery items, and gourmet catering. We’re also known for our unique gift baskets, shipped nationwide, and our popular virtual tasting events. Our small, tight-knit team works collaboratively in a supportive, all-hands-on-deck environment.

About the Position:

We are seeking an experienced Pastry Cook to join and help lead our well-established pastry program alongside our Chef. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take on more responsibility, contribute creatively, and grow within a stable and respected food business—without the intensity of a high-volume restaurant environment.

You will be responsible for:

  • Daily bake off and production of BKLYN Larder’s beloved pastry offerings including cookies, cakes, quick breads, biscuits, yeasted breads, and pizza dough
  • Ensure availability, consistency, and quality across all pastry items, including gelato and sorbet
  • Develop and introduce new seasonal and creative specials with enough lead time to work with our operations and marketing teams
  • Manage additional production necessary for holiday and ongoing catering menus
  • Sourcing and ordering fresh, seasonal, local produce when possible
  • Maintain recipe catalog and cost analysis software as new recipes are developed and any changes are made.
  • Meet all timelines for menu and recipe development, cost analysis, and seasonality
  • Manage an assistant and gelato maker, and work closely with the full kitchen team and FOH

We're looking for a self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively with our team. This is an ideal role for someone ready to step up in their career, sharpen their leadership skills, and bring their own creative touches to an already strong pastry program.

Schedule:

  • Full-time: 40 hours per week
  • Weekends required
  • Typical days off: Monday and Tuesday
  • Typical Hours - 8am - 4pm

  • Passion for local, seasonal ingredients
  • Experience working in a professional pastry environment
  • Highly organized with excellent cleanliness and attention to detail
  • Able to multitask and manage a full pastry station
  • Positive, can-do attitude and great communication skills
  • Comfortable working solo or with a small team
  • Bilingual Spanish/English speakers are highly encouraged to apply
