Job summary

Montage International in Bluffton, SC is seeking a Lead Cook, Pastry to elevate our guests' experiences with creative desserts and elevated pastries. You will work closely with the kitchen team to plan, prepare, and plate high-quality pastry items for a luxury hotel setting.

Ideal candidates have at least three years of pastry or culinary experience in a standalone restaurant or hotel, a passion for food, and strong teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Three years minimum of cooking experience in a standalone restaurant or hotel environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and execution of food orders.
• Collaborate with associates to meet production goals and ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Assist with training new kitchen associates.
• Supervise and mentor cooks and kitchen staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
• Create and innovate new menu items and specials.
• Skillfully prepare hot and cold foods that meet high standards.
• Maintain knowledge of food products, sanitation standards, and culinary techniques.
• Fulfill guest orders in a timely manner with attention to detail.
• Work in a collaborative environment with professionalism.
• Deliver on guests' expectations and create WOW moments.
• Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs.

Your Journey

• Perform additional duties as assigned that may be outside of the normal scope of duties based on business needs

Must Haves

• Knowledge of culinary techniques and cooking methods
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
• Ability to collaborate in a team environment with excellent communication skills
• Three years minimum of cooking experience in a standalone restaurant or hotel environment
• Luxury hotel experience, a plus

Physical Requirements

• Grasping, holding, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending over
• Ability to stand and exercise mobility for extended periods of time during your scheduled shift
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and for extended periods during the shift
• Ability to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 200 pounds on a semi-regular basis
• Must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers ( -10°F) and kitchens (+110°F)
