Job summary

Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay in Virginia Beach seeks a Pastry Chef to lead the community’s bakery program, blending classical baking artistry with daily culinary operations to deliver an exceptional dining experience for residents.

You will scratch-bake artisanal breads, laminated doughs, pastries, and desserts while mentoring kitchen staff and maintaining strict safety and production standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a high-volume food production environment.
• Advanced culinary and pastry skills with menu planning and plating expertise.
• Proven leadership in supervising a pastry team.
• Thorough health, safety, and sanitation knowledge (HACCP).
• Maintains neat, professional appearance at all times.

Responsibilities

• Lead bakery program and supervise pastry team to ensure quality and consistency.
• Maintain food safety and production standards across the kitchen.
• Train and mentor the Asst. Pastry Chef and other Dining Team members.
• Manage inventory, costing, and documentation to support financial goals.
• Collaborate with Executive Chef, Director of Dining Services, and Dietitian as needed.
