Job summary

Rocketship Public Schools in Milwaukee, WI seeks a Wisconsin Associate Director of Community Organizing to lead parent engagement and education equity initiatives. The role oversees training, mobilization, and advocacy across Milwaukee and statewide efforts, collaborating with school leaders, families, and partners.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in community organizing, education reform, or grassroots engagement.
• Daily travel between school sites and community locations; valid driver’s license.
• Ability to position Rocketship in the policy arena with strong communication and strategic skills.
• Experience engaging diverse stakeholders.
• Experience with Google Apps and willingness to learn new technology.
• Growth-minded, self-directed, and goal-oriented approach to organizing work.
• Willingness to work some nights and weekends; 1–2 days working from home for admin tasks.
• Commitment to building trust-based relationships with diverse perspectives.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, mobilize, and retain a network of parents and community stakeholders to build advocacy and engagement.
• Build the capacity of parents and families to understand the education landscape and key decision makers.
• Complete weekly 1-on-1 relational meetings with current and future parent leaders to build capacity.
• Serve as a strategic partner in external affairs and develop grasstops–grassroots strategies.
• Foster relationships with community-based organizations, faith leaders, elected officials, and civic groups.
• Lead parent-organizing campaigns for growth and expansion of Rocketship Wisconsin schools.
• Hire, train, and support development of Education Organizers.
