Job summary

Any Baby Can is an Austin-based nonprofit delivering Parents as Teachers services to families with children birth to 5. The Lead Parent Educator conducts case management, education and development activities, and supports intake, referrals, and data quality.

With a strong focus on low-income and diverse families, the role requires collaboration, documentation accuracy, and professional development to maintain PAT certification.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, early childhood development, public health or related field and a minimum of 2 years professional work experience as a Parents As Teachers Parent Educator. LBSW preferred.
  • Experience and ability to work with low income and culturally diverse families having multiple needs and limited resources.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, both verbal and written is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a collaborative team.
  • Ability to maintain detailed and accurate program records and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and flexibility, able to work well under pressure and handle crisis situations.
  • Familiarity with computers and strong ability to complete documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management in the home, school, and other sites with documentation within 5 business days of a case contact.
  • Maintain a caseload of 15-17 families using the PAT model and serve as backup to HOPES funded Parent Educators.
  • Serve as a role model to other parent educators by ensuring documentation and behavior is professional.
  • Meet with supervisor regularly to understand assignments and needs of the team.
  • Participate in staff meetings and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Complete competency-based professional development hours to remain a certified Parents as Teachers educator.
  • Work as an education resource to Parent Educators in relation to data entry, model implementation, screenings and assessments.
  • Maintain a referral management system for efficient intake of new families and follow-ups.
  • Support planning and implementation of structured parent-child group events.
  • Assist in quality assurance procedures including file reviews and home visit observations.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and required trainings, and monthly group connections.
  • Represent the program at stakeholder meetings and community activities.
  • Serve as acting supervisor when necessary.
  • Other assignments may be added as needed.
