Job summary

Any Baby Can is seeking an experienced Lead Parent Educator to deliver the Parents as Teachers model to low-income families with children birth to 5 years. You will handle case management, parenting education, and child development services, while supporting intake, referrals, and staff training.

The role requires bilingual English/Spanish abilities and strong documentation skills. You will maintain a caseload, assist supervisors, participate in QA and training, and help coordinate family

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, early childhood development, public health or related field.
  • LBSW preferred.
  • Experience working with low-income and culturally diverse families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management in home, school, and other sites with rapport building and documentation within 5 business days.
  • Maintain caseload of 15-17 families using the PAT model and cover colleagues during leaves or vacancies.
  • Serve as role model, ensuring professional documentation and adherence to PAT and HOPES guidelines.
  • Meet with supervisor regularly to discuss assignments and team needs.
  • Participate in staff meetings and quality improvement processes, including file reviews and home visit observations.
  • Complete competency-based professional development hours annually to remain certified.
  • Assist in data entry, model implementation, screenings, and assessments as an education resource.
  • Support intake/referral management and outreach for new families, coordinating events and duties.
  • Assist in planning parent-child group events and QA procedures.
  • Attend required trainings and meetings, representing the program with stakeholders.
  • Act as supervisor when needed and handle other duties.

Position Summary:

The Lead Parent Educator is responsible for delivering all components of the Parents as Teachers model to include case management, parenting education and child development services to low-income families with children birth to 5 years. In addition, the Lead Parent Educator will provide support to the PAT supervisor with intake and referral management, family engagement and retention planning, staff training and education, and data quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide case management in the home, school, and other sites as needed with a focus on developing and maintaining good rapport with parents and their children on the caseload. Complete all documentation within program guidelines (documentation and data entry are to be completed within 5 business days of a case contact).
  • Maintain a caseload of 15-17 families using the PAT model and serve as backup to HOPES funded Parent Educators during time of extended leave or during staff vacancy.
  • Serve as a role model to other parent educators by ensuring documentation and behavior is always professional in adherence to PAT and HOPES guidelines.
  • Meet with supervisor regularly to understand assignments and needs of the team.
  • Participate in the program’s staff meetings and continuous quality improvement process (including quarterly file reviews and annual home visit observations).
  • Complete annually required competency-based professional development hours to remain a certified Parents as Teachers parent educator (see Parents as Teachers Core Competencies for details).
  • Work as an education resource to Parent Educators in relation to data entry, model implementation, screenings and assessments.
  • Work alongside PAT Program Supervisor to maintain a referral management system for efficient intake of new families, (calling and following up with external/internal referrals) understanding of upcoming events, and other duties as needed.
  • Support the planning and implementation of structured parent-child group events, as needed.
  • Assist in quality assurance procedures and activities to include quarterly file reviews and annual home visit observations.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled staff and agency meetings and required trainings, and monthly group connections.
  • Represent the program as needed at stakeholder meetings, program presentations and other community building activities.
  • Serve as acting supervisor when necessary.
  • Other assignments may be added as needed or required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, early childhood development, public health or related field and a minimum of 2 years profession work experience as a Parents As Teachers Parent Educator. LBSW preferred.
  • Experience and ability to work with low income and culturally diverse families having multiple needs and limited resources.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, both verbal and written is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a collaborative team.
  • Ability to maintain detailed and accurate program records and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and flexibility, able to work well under pressure and handle crisis situations.
  • Familiarity with computers and strong ability to complete documentation.
Special Considerations:
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel within the assigned region; if driving own vehicle, must have valid driver’s license and current vehicle insurance.
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel as necessary to fulfill daily duties assigned.
  • Ability to effectively/clearly communicate.
