Job summary

MyMichigan Health in Midland, MI is seeking a certified EMT-P Paramedic to deliver advanced emergency medical care for sick or injured patients. You will perform invasive and noninvasive interventions, assess during inter-hospital transfers, and supervise field personnel as part of the EMS team.

Responsibilities include documenting assessments, maintaining equipment, and promoting public awareness of EMS services.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of emergency medicine as normally acquired through 2 years of emergency education culminating in licensure as an Emergency Medical Services - Paramedic.
• Knowledge of pre-hospital care as normally acquired through 2 years experience working in a Medical Center or similar healthcare setting.
• Hazardous Materials Management.
• Ability to function independently.
• Ability to analyze patient condition, synthesize information, and coordinate a precise treatment plan for emergent conditions.
• Ability to triage a mass casualty incident.
• Knowledge of cardiac rhythm analysis, pharmacology, invasive techniques including pleural decompression, cricothyrotomy, endotracheal intubation, interosseous access, IV access, and non-invasive techniques.
• Basic operation of external pacemaker.
• Knowledge of extrication and special rescue.
• Geographical skills needed to access emergency locations.
• Ability to direct ancillary personnel, immobilize fractures, and manage spinal injuries.
• Excellent driving skills for emergency vehicles.
• Interpersonal skills to console victims and families.

Responsibilities

• Acts independently to formulate and initiate a plan of intervention for medical and traumatic emergencies.
• Assesses patients during inter-hospital transfers and utilizes equipment to maintain optimal care.
• Supervises field medical management of ancillary rescue personnel and coordination with authorities.
• Drafts computer reports documenting assessment, intervention, and outcomes.
• Generates public awareness and education programs about EMS services.
• Evaluates readiness and safety of emergency equipment and vehicles.
• Maintains and decontaminates EMS equipment and vehicles.
• Demonstrates competency in Microsoft Windows and may participate in further learning opportunities.
