Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Paramedic Certification from the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services.
• Valid North Carolina driver's license.
• Current certifications such as BLS, PALS, ACLS, ITLS and/or PHTLS may be required; ICs-100/200/700/800 desirable.
• EMT or AEMT experience is desirable; no experience required.

Responsibilities

• Serves as paramedic in charge on calls; directs care and oversees EMTs/AEMTs.
• Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls in an ambulance or quick response vehicle.
• Operates a vehicle to travel as needed.
• Performs medical acts per protocols; administers medications and IV therapies.
• Performs patient assessment and life support; manages airway and CPR; administers oxygen and treats injuries.
• Maintains documentation for billing and medical records.
• Maintains and inspects equipment and supplies; ensures readiness of vehicles.
• Assists with disaster direction and coordination as needed.
