Job summary

JDF Custom Painting in Minnesota is seeking a skilled Lead Painter to oversee a team and deliver high-quality finishes on residential, commercial, or industrial projects. You will manage day-to-day operations, train crew members, and ensure work meets client expectations and schedule.

The ideal candidate has extensive painting knowledge, strong leadership, and hands-on ability with prep, coating, safety compliance, and client communication. Excellent attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years painting experience with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of painting techniques, tools, and materials.
• Experience in residential, commercial, or industrial painting environments is preferred.
• Excellent leadership and client communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and mentor a team of painters, ensuring work meets project specs and standards.
• Oversee surface preparation, masking, and protected areas.
• Apply paints, stains, varnishes, and finishes with quality and consistency.
• Inspect work and ensure safety, quality, and project requirements are met.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, and teams to keep on schedule and within budget.
• Enforce safety protocols and compliance with environmental and OSHA regulations.
• Communicate with clients to understand needs and provide status updates.
