Job summary

The Town of Cary is seeking a dedicated Program Supervisor- Outdoor Education to lead environmental education initiatives across Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources. You will design and implement engaging programs at Hemlock Bluffs and other sites, supervise staff, and collaborate with schools and community groups to deliver high-quality outdoor learning experiences.

The role requires strong leadership, creativity, and the ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Requires a combination of education and experience in recreation or natural history.
  • Minimum two years in nature/environmental education.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience with staff.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise development and evaluation of environmental and nature-based programs.
  • Manage programming at Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve and other sites.
  • Develop staff training in interpretation techniques and natural history.
  • Develop curriculum and educational displays aligned with standards.
  • Coordinate program schedules, staffing, brochures, and registration.
  • Collaborate with schools and the public; liaise with partners.
