Job summary

GPC is seeking an Outbound Operations Supervisor in Laurel, MD to lead outbound shipping and pulling activities, designing efficient methods for the team to follow. You will ensure freight is pulled, sorted, packed and loaded safely, with a focus on high-quality, timely execution and continuous problem solving.

The role reports to the Outbound Operations Manager and emphasizes engagement, empowerment, and cost-conscious process improvements across the outbound teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• 1+ years’ experience within a distribution center or similar environment.
• Ability to comply with all safety requirements pertaining to job functions and general Distribution Center safety requirements.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop cooperative working relationships.
• Basic computer skills and capability to lift/move up to 60 lbs; forklift and pallet jack certified.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and implement efficient outbound operations by instructing staff and troubleshooting as needed.
• Design and maintain organization of yard operations, trailers, housekeeping, maintenance and safety protocols.
• Drive adherence to safety rules and regulations, ensuring a safe environment for employees.
• Monitor budget planning and enforce cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
• Lead warehouse associates, fostering engagement and empowerment to solve problems.
• Investigate and resolve shipping errors with teams to mitigate future issues.
• Schedule team hours for peak periods and efficiency.
• Protect assets, ensure proper loading, receipts, and secure facilities nightly.
• Lead efficient processing of outbound orders, cross/docks, stock orders, and special orders.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and implement process improvements.
• Mentor teams, drive problem-solving, and maintain a culture of engagement.
• Reconcile truck loads nightly and design shuttle truck protocols.
