Job summary

MercyOne Genesis seeks a BC/BE Orthopedic Hand Surgeon to join a growing team and shape a comprehensive Hand & Upper Extremity program from day one. Fellowship training in Hand & Upper Extremity is required, with ABOS board status or eligibility.

You will develop a high-volume practice across hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow paths, supported by a robust APP team and strong institutional resources. This role offers leadership in a thriving, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree required.
• Fellowship trained in Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery.
• ABOS Board Certification or Board Eligibility.
• Ability to obtain Iowa and Illinois medical licenses.
• Strong clinical and surgical skills with a passion for hand/upper extremity care.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• Open to graduating fellows and experienced surgeons.

Responsibilities

• Join expanding orthopedic team as a foundational member of the Hand & Upper Extremity program.
• Design, develop, and elevate a comprehensive hand surgery service.
• Provide broad hand/upper-extremity care including complex fractures, nerve/tendon injuries, microsurgery, arthritis care.
• Collaborate with emergency, primary care, anesthesia, hospitalists, and therapy teams.
• Support work-life balance with a structured schedule and strong leadership.
