Job summary

Samtec, Inc. in Santa Clara, CA seeks an Optoelectronics R&D Technical Leader to own the technical direction for RF-optics transceiver products.

You will lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team across EE, RF SI, optics, mechanical, and firmware to translate requirements into validated prototypes and scalable production designs. You will drive design decisions, perform prototype bring-up, characterization, and product validation, and collaborate with product managers and manufacturing to

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in optoelectronic transceiver product design with integrated RF-optics
• Familiar with RF design tools (e.g., Keysight ADS, Ansys HFSS) and optical simulation software (Zemax, OptiSystem)
• Hands-on experience with RF/optical test equipment including analyzers and BER testers
• Strong knowledge of RF principles and optoelectronic concepts
• Ability to analyze complex RF-optical challenges and document design decisions

Responsibilities

• Design and develop hybrid RF-optics products (e.g., RF-over-fiber modules, optical transceivers)
• Model and simulate RF/optical subsystems to predict performance
• Lead integration of RF and optical components into cohesive assemblies
• Perform hands-on prototype testing and validation using RF/optical test equipment
• Troubleshoot RF-optical interactions and optimize for bandwidth and power efficiency
• Collaborate with product managers and manufacturing to ensure scalable, cost-effective designs
• Document specifications, test procedures, and performance data for milestones
• Research emerging RF-optics technologies to maintain competitive edge
