Job summary

Coherent is seeking a Lead Hardware Engineer in Horsham, PA to own hardware elements of optical transceiver products. You will lead design activities, evaluate components, perform circuit design and simulation, and work with firmware, manufacturing and test teams to meet schedules and performance targets.

The role requires an advanced engineering degree and 2–5 years of relevant hardware experience in optics, RF or high-technology settings.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline.
• 2–5 years of hardware engineering experience, ideally in optical communications, photonics, RF or similar high tech.
• Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
• Strong experience in analogue and digital circuit design and simulation.
• Practical experience with PCB design, layout, testing and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently and own technical deliverables.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware design and development activities, including evaluation and selection of optical and RF components.
• Perform RF, analogue and digital circuit design and simulation and oversee schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Conduct design verification testing, troubleshooting and performance analysis.
• Develop hardware for optical transceiver modules following project schedules and requirements.
• Define digital control requirements for firmware execution and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
• Participate in hardware design reviews and contribute to product architectures.
