Job summary

Coherent Corp. is seeking a senior hardware design engineer in Horsham, PA to lead independent HW tasks for transceiver modules. You will evaluate optical and RF components, perform RF/analog/digital design and simulations, and drive PCB layouts and verification testing.

The role requires an advanced engineering degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, with strong communication and teamwork skills. Occasional travel and collaboration across firmware, manufacturing and QA teams are expected.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree required in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of engineering experience in relevant field.
• Experience in hardware design and development tasks, including RF/analog/digital design and PCB layout.

Responsibilities

• Work independently on hardware design and development tasks.
• Evaluate optical/RF components.
• RF design, analog & digital design and simulation.
• PCB layout.
• Design verification testing and troubleshooting.
• Develop hardware for transceiver modules as schedules require.
• Document digital control requirements for firmware.
• Coordinate hardware with firmware, manufacturing, test and other groups.
• Familiarity with industry standards and customer requirements.
• Define/develop hardware architecture to meet future requirements.
• Train and support Coherent personnel in area of expertise.
• Interact with critical customers to provide technical support as needed.
