Job summary

Adtran seeks a Principal Hardware Engineer to lead the architecture and development of coherent pluggable transceivers and high‑speed optical transport subsystems for metro, core, long-haul, and data center interconnects. You will collaborate across optical, electrical, firmware, FPGA, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams.

The role emphasizes mentorship, guiding design reviews, and driving production transfers to manufacturing partners while delivering

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optical Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred.
10+ years hardware engineering experience in telecommunications, networking, or optical systems.
Experience with coherent optical transceivers and DWDM networking products.

Responsibilities

Lead hardware architecture and design of coherent pluggable transceivers and optical transport subsystems.
Drive high-speed digital, RF, mixed-signal, and optical hardware design decisions.
Mentor engineers and lead design reviews across multiple teams.
Oversee testing, qualification, and production transfer to manufacturing partners.
Collaborate across Systems, Software, FPGA, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality, and Product teams.
