Job summary

Nova Biomedical is seeking a Staff Optical Engineer in Waltham, MA to lead design, development, integration, verification and validation of optical subsystems for biomedical devices. You will guide architecture across imaging, spectroscopy and sensing, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, software, fluidics and analytical teams to deliver next-gen platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Optical/Engineering or closely related field required.
• Master's in Optical/Engineering preferred.
• Eight+ years developing optical subsystems for instrumentation or medical devices.

Responsibilities

• Translate product requirements into optical subsystem requirements.
• Lead or support optical subsystem architecture for imaging spectroscopy and optical sensing.
• Define optical interfaces with mechanical, electrical, software, and analytical subsystems.
• Design, prototype, test, and optimize optical paths and sensing methods.
• Plan and execute optical testing, validation protocols, and DOE studies.
• Maintain clear design documentation and design history records.
• Mentor engineers and communicate findings to stakeholders.
