Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline preferred or equivalent experience.
• Certification: COT by JCAHPO or equivalent.
• 8+ years ophthalmic assistant experience, 2+ years of leading on the floor.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the activities of the team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
• Assist the physician in complex procedures and advanced diagnostic testing.
• Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy of information.
• Take ocular and systemic history and record visual acuity.
• Perform testing required by visit type, including OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry.
• Serve as scribe and enter data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Oversee patient flow and maintain exam rooms cleanliness.
• Collaborate with clinic manager and physicians to identify improvement areas.
