Job summary

Hycroft Mining Holding Corporation, a US-based gold and silver producer near Winnemucca, Nevada, seeks a Senior Mine Engineer to lead open-pit planning, engineering, and surveying at the Hycroft mine site.

You will drive long-range plans, optimize designs, support budgeting, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and cost-effective operations across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or Geological Engineering, 6–10 years of open-pit mining experience.
• Strong background in open-pit mining operations, mine design, and production optimization.
• Proficiency with mining planning software: Vulcan, Micromine, and Deswik.
• Experience with budgeting, cost control, and financial evaluation of mining projects.
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze large datasets.
• Experience with fleet/dispatch systems and Trimble/AutoCAD is a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership and project management capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and influence decisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and engineering support for all aspects of open-pit mining operations.
• Develop, review, and optimize short-, medium-, and long-range mine plans, including life-of-mine strategies.
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and business planning through technical analysis and cost evaluation.
• Identify opportunities to improve mine productivity, equipment utilization, and cost efficiency.
• Conduct engineering studies and trade-off analyses related to mine design, haulage, equipment selection, and improvements.
• Monitor performance against plan and recommend corrective actions to hit targets.
• Collaborate with geology, operations, processing, maintenance, environmental, and finance teams for integrated planning.
• Analyze production, cost, and equipment data to support decisions and improvements.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for management and stakeholders.
• Mentor mine engineers and planners; ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Utilize planning software to develop accurate designs and schedules.
• Participate in strategic initiatives, capital projects, and expansion studies.
