Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced on-site project manager to lead highway, bridge, and infrastructure inspections in New Jersey. You will manage inspection staff, enforce specifications, and ensure safety, environmental, and OSHA compliance while coordinating with agencies, contractors, and design teams.

Ideal candidates have NICET IV or 10+ years in heavy highway construction management, familiarity with NJDOT/NJTA standards, and experience with daily reports, RFIs, submittals, change orders,

Qualifications

• NICET Level IV certification or 10+ years of experience in heavy highway construction management.
• Familiarity with NJDOT or NJTA design standards.
• Familiarity with Site Manager or Cap Ex and internal contract compliance procedures.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of work zone safety, Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT), environmental and OSHA requirements.
• Experience with construction quantities, payrolls, daily inspection reports, RFIs, submittals, change orders, claims, and monthly payment estimates.
• Knowledge of DBE workforce and training goals.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the chief on-site authority for highway, bridge, and infrastructure projects.
• Manage and direct on-site construction inspection staff and assign daily duties.
• Enforce client specifications, plans, and contract documents.
• Monitor work zone safety, MPT compliance, and environmental and OSHA regulations.
• Review and verify construction quantities.
• Monitor contractor payrolls.
• Maintain daily inspection reports, RFIs, submittals, and project logs.
• Ensure contractors meet DBE workforce and training goals.
• Manage change orders, evaluate claims, and process monthly payment estimates.
• Liaise with agencies, design teams, contractors, utility companies, and the public.
• Convey complex technical information effectively to clients and team members.
