Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking an experienced Assistant Superintendent to oversee coordination and supervision of subcontractors and craft teams on a construction project in the Chicago area. You will manage on-site operations, safety, material flow, and schedule adherence while supporting Project Managers with planning and updates.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, at least 3 years of construction management experience, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years construction management or related experience.
• Current driver's license.
• Ability to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise sub-contractors and craft teams.
• Manage project labor and track weekly labor reports.
• Review certifications and trainings for craft roles.
• Participate in site safety meetings and orientation.
• Coordinate timecards and hiring/dismissal of craft workers.
• Ensure on-site operations align with scope, equipment, and schedule.
• Support project managers with schedule development and updates.
• Ensure quality control for self-perform and subcontractors.
• Provide training and performance evaluation of craft workers.
