Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Fare Collection Technician/Mechanic to support on-site work in NYC Transit stations, focusing on OMNY deployment and legacy fare systems. You will oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of OMNY readers, validators, gates, and TVMs to ensure seamless operations.

Ideal candidates bring 11+ years in NYCT environments, strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, and the ability to read schematics and manuals.

Qualifications

Minimum 11+ years proven experience working in MTA New York City Transit (NYCT) stations.
Hands-on experience with fare gates / turnstiles and Ticket vending machines (TVMs).
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Must be local to the New York metropolitan area.

Responsibilities

Oversee installation, commissioning and testing of OMNY devices (readers, validators) and fare gates.
Work on-site in active NYC subway stations and coordinate with NYCT personnel.
Maintain installation logs, test reports, and field records; ensure safety and compliance.
May require night, weekend, or off-hour shifts and outages.
