Job summary

Madera Rehabilitation Center seeks a qualified Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR) to evaluate, plan, direct and administer therapy modalities as prescribed by physicians. The role focuses on restoring function and preventing disability, while guiding residents toward maximum independence.

The OTR will lead the OT department, ensure compassionate care, collaborate with physicians and families, and uphold safety and documentation standards in a skilled nursing setting.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program.
• Current state licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR).
• Experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs the Occupational Therapy Department staff including Occupational Therapy Assistants, Occupational Therapy Aides, and certification applicants.
• Observes and evaluates treatment plan effectiveness; recommends changes to physicians if needed.
• Performs appropriate assessments on each patient related to requested therapy and reassessments per policy.
• Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency of occupational therapy modalities.
• Treats patients and families with respect and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and family.
• Manages and operates equipment safely and maintains department cleanliness.
• Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in plan of care.
• Coordinates patient care with physicians, staff and administrative teams.
