Job summary

City of Houston is seeking an Occupational Safety Advisor within the General Services Department to lead safety programs city-wide. You will develop risk management strategies, conduct safety surveys, and coordinate training and compliance efforts across multiple departments.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in EH&S or related fields and at least four years of safety administration experience, with supervisory exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health & Occupational Safety, Science, Engineering, Business Administration or related field.
• Four years of experience in safety administration; some supervisory experience preferred.
• Pertinent professional experience may substitute for the above educational requirement; related Master's may substitute for two years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements safety and health programs across City departments.
• Directs and coordinates technical and administrative activities of Occupational Health and Safety programs.
• Advises with management, labor, and professional groups on safety activities.
• Evaluates data, interprets results, and prepares reports on safety performance.
• Oversees OSHA compliance, hazard communication, and safety training programs.
• Coordinates safety surveys and incident investigations; maintains records.
