Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in California is seeking an OB Technician to support the Labor and Delivery Unit under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will perform non-nursing tasks, direct and train other OB Technicians, and ensure equipment and supplies are ready for delivery rooms.

You will welcome patients, assist with chart handling, transport to delivery areas, set up sterile tables, and help with specimen transport.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, memos, and correspondence.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to present information clearly in one-on-one and small groups.

Responsibilities

• Directs and checks the work of OB Technicians.
• Participates in orientation and training of new OB Technicians.
• Checks labor and delivery rooms for equipment and supplies.
• Tracks preventive maintenance on equipment and expiration dates of supplies.
• Sets up emergency equipment and sterile delivery tables.
• Welcomes patients and escorts them to the appropriate room.
• Transports patients to delivery, cesarean, ultrasound or postpartum areas.
• Pulls charts, ensures supply packs, and handles specimen transport.
• Washes instruments and supports central supply sterilization processes.
• Answers lights and telephone and performs related duties as necessary.
