Job summary

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide advanced nursing care to detainees, conduct assessments, triage, medication administration, and patient education.

The role includes leadership opportunities such as Charge Nurse or Team Lead and requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team in a detention setting. This position is limited to USPHS officers and CAD candidates, with duties emphasizing clinical expertise, adaptability, and strict

Qualifications

• Must be a Bachelor prepared Registered Nurse and licensed.
• Maintains current CPR/BLS certification.
• US Public Health Service readiness status required.
• Spanish language proficiency preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to detainees following nursing care principles.
• Document detainee encounters using SOAP&E format and proper signatures.
• Assess patient needs and coordinate nursing care plans.
• Obtain medical histories and refer issues to physicians/APP as appropriate.
• Coordinate referrals to off-site providers and communicate with healthcare team.
• Administer medications, ensure 6 rights and proper documentation.
• Provide radiological services per nursing board licensure when applicable.
• Perform patient teaching and education as directed by IHSC directives.
• Maintain medical equipment, stock supplies, and safety standards.
• Participate in quality improvement and unit meetings.
• May serve as Charge Nurse or Team Lead as assigned.
