Job summary

Blykalla, a Swedish developer of advanced nuclear power, is seeking a Nuclear Security Engineer to lead physical protection design for its lead-cooled SMR and support DOE authorization for the US market. This role embeds security-by-design from the earliest stages and builds the security case for regulatory approval.

You will work with licensing, reactor design, and deployment teams, oversee DBT analysis, vulnerability assessments, and PPS design, and stay current with IAEA standards. U.S.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in engineering, physics, security systems engineering, or related field.
• 5–10 years in nuclear security or similar facilities.
• Experience with security assessment methodologies: DBT, vulnerability assessment, and PPS design.
• Working knowledge of US DOE/NRC framework and IAEA Nuclear Security Series.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Lead physical protection design for our lead-cooled SMR and support DOE authorization.
• Develop DBT assessment and protection plans.
• Identify vital areas and design detection, delay, and response systems.
• Coordinate with material control, accountability, and protective forces.
• Prepare security analyses and submittals for DOE/NRC interactions.
• Handle SGI/UCNI appropriately.
