Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Lead Tech in Nuclear Medicine to oversee daily clinical and operational activities within the department. The role combines advanced clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities, including staff scheduling, workflow coordination, and quality/compliance oversight.

The Lead Technologist will oversee image quality, radiopharmaceutical handling, radiation safety, and collaboration with physicians and staff to ensure high-quality imaging and exceptional patient

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or Certificate from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology is required.
• New York State Radiologic Technologist License in Nuclear Medicine is required.
• ARRT in Nuclear Medicine or NMTCB Certification is required.
• 5+ years of experience in nuclear medicine is required.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily clinical and operational activities in the nuclear medicine department.
• Lead staff scheduling, PTO, call-outs and vacancies; coordinate workflow and staffing based on volume and acuity.
• Oversee image quality and consistency across studies; troubleshoot advanced technical issues; implement new imaging protocols and technologies.
• Oversee preparation, handling and administration of radiopharmaceuticals; ensure radiopharmacy compliance and inventory controls.
• Ensure strict adherence to radiation safety standards and regulatory requirements; support audits and inspections.
• Maintain QA/QC programs for imaging equipment and radiopharmaceutical processes; monitor metrics and drive improvements.
• Oversee HIS, RIS, and PACS usage to ensure documentation and workflow efficiency; optimize patient throughput.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and leadership; communicate updates and expectations.
• Oversee training and competency validation for new hires and staff; serve as educator for students and technologists.

Education

Associate's Degree or Certificate from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.

Bachelor's degree in nuclear medicine technology.
