Job summary

Upside Innovations is seeking a New Product Development Engineer to drive concept-to-production for new and improved aluminum ramps, steps, canopies, and related products.

This role requires a bachelor’s degree, at least 5 years of product development experience, proficiency in 3D CAD (Solid Edge preferred), and strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to collaborate across engineering, marketing, production and sales.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years of product development/design experience.
• Experience with 3D CAD software; Solid Edge preferred.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Researches, designs, and evaluates equipment to meet market and customer requirements.
• Participates in overall product strategy and development for Upside Innovations.
• Leads research that tests feasibility, design, operation, or performance.
• Writes upfront performance requirements for product development projects.
• Evaluates design feasibility regarding appearance, safety, function, manufacturability, cost.
• Performs calculations and FEA to verify structural integrity and load capacity.
• Collaborates with engineering, marketing, production, and sales teams.
• Investigates product characteristics such as safety, market appeal, producibility.
• Participates in new product planning or market research.
• Develops best practices to improve new product design processes.
• Uses Project Management methodologies to manage work.
• Applies engineering best practices to all tasks.
