Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory seeks a Senior Neuroengineering Developer to lead computing tool development for large-scale neuroscience datasets. You will design and deploy cloud-based pipelines, scalable software, and visualization systems for connectomics across species and modalities.

You will also communicate findings to sponsors, contribute to proposals, and engage with the neuroscience community while advancing APL's mission through collaboration and innovation.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, AI, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or related.
• 5+ years developing software or computational methods for large-scale neuroscience datasets.
• Experience deploying production software on cloud infra (AWS or equivalent), with containers, DBs, REST APIs, and modern practices.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, CI/CD, and code reviews.
• Excellent research and oral communication skills with diverse collaborators.
• Eligible for Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and maintenance of computational pipelines and cloud-based environments for large neuroscience datasets.
• Develop, maintain, and extend software infrastructure for cloud storage, visualization, and analysis of petabyte-scale data.
• Architect scalable software systems supporting automated data processing, visualization, and HPC workflows.
• Communicate findings internally and to sponsors; contribute to research proposal development.
• Participate in neuroscience community activities and present data at meetings.
• Collaborate across teams to advance APL's mission through innovation.
